PORTIA ELMER

Senior Designer

Portia began her architectural career in 2000, bringing to each project a strong belief in the connection between the built environment and our shared human story. With dual training in architecture and scenic design, she brings creativity, collaboration, and a finely tuned eye for detail to her work. Her clear communication and inclusive process foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, and project teams alike.

Passionate about shaping learning environments that inspire discovery and growth, Portia has extensive experience leading educational and community projects. Her on-site coordination with contractors and consultants ensures that designs are executed faithfully, schedules are met, and schools open smoothly—ready to welcome students on the first day and beyond.

Before joining CWA, Portia worked with Pelli Clarke & Partners, Ryan Associates, and Handel Architects, contributing to major cultural, civic, and educational projects, including the Austin Museum of Art and the Four Seasons Tower in San Francisco.

In her spare time, Portia will occasionally design sets for collegiate theatrical performances while teaching courses in set design.
