Where modern design meets mission-critical campus safety.
The UConn Division of University Safety, encompassing both the Police and Fire Departments, commissioned a standards-driven upgrade and expansion to support the growing student and faculty population. CWA services started with a comprehensive building assessment, program analysis, and cost analysis, enabling agency approval and allocation of project funds.
The addition primarily provides the Fire Department with an autonomous presence while the interior renovations allow the Police Department to expand internally. Modernized locker rooms accommodate both men and women, along with their increasing array of gear. Important to a busy fire house, a centralized, communal kitchen was created as well as sleeping quarters for overnight shifts. Enhancing operational resilience, the emergency dispatch center was renovated, expanded, and modernized, including a separate emergency response backup facility located within the building.
