Creating a Drop-in Center with much needed amenities
Offering secure, steadfast, and hygienic accommodations tailored to the needs of young individuals, coupled with comprehensive on-site social services such as counseling and employment assistance, this emerging youth residence aims to establish a robust network of support. The range of services includes accessible on-site healthcare, legal guidance, and youth mentorship, fortifying the foundation of this innovative youth rooming house.
The concept involves a central ground floor for social services, while introducing a second floor that encompasses an array of amenities. This upper level will include four well-appointed bathrooms and a total of twelve beds, thoughtfully configured into either private or shared bedrooms. Additionally, this space will feature a communal dining area fostering interaction and camaraderie among residents.
Benefiting from the crisis beds and the broader community of over 500 youth hailing from the Greater New Haven area, which is served by the nonprofit sponsor, youths will have access to a variety of essential services. These encompass indispensable amenities such as laundry facilities, valuable job training resources, a fully-equipped computer lab, and the invaluable support of private counseling, among other offerings.
Funding is through the Connecticut Department of Housing, the sponsor, and private donations.
